Mets Designate Chris Devenski for Assignment, Recall Jack Weisenburger
The New York Mets have made a roster change by designating right-hander Chris Devenski for assignment and recalling Jack Weisenburger from Triple-A Syracuse.
Devenski, a veteran pitcher, joined the Mets in late August to provide relief support. However, with the expansion of rosters to 28 players and a recent day off for the bullpen, the team opted to give younger pitchers like Weisenburger more opportunities.
Currently, the Mets are struggling in the season with a record of 68-78, trailing ten games behind a playoff spot. Devenski, who is set to become a free agent, has not contributed long-term value to the team. Following the trade deadline, he will need to clear waivers, and if he does, he may choose to become a free agent.
