Mets Promote Jonah Tong to Rotation for Final Weeks of Season

Jonah Tong will make his return to Major League Baseball on Monday as the New York Mets plan to keep him in their rotation for the remainder of the season.

Tong, who is 23 years old, will start against the Miami Marlins and may also pitch in the upcoming Subway Series at Yankee Stadium. He is regarded as the Mets' No. 5 prospect and has performed well in Triple-A Syracuse, posting a 5-6 record with a 4.54 ERA over 23 starts, including a strong finish with a 3.00 ERA in his last 10 outings.

Interim manager Andy Green expressed enthusiasm about Tong's recent performance and indicated that the team intends to give him consistent opportunities moving forward. In a roster change, reliever Jefry Yan was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, while Tobias Myers was recalled to take his place.
