Miami Dolphins Release Rookie Pass Rusher Mason Reiger

The Miami Dolphins have released undrafted rookie edge rusher Mason Reiger from injured reserve after reaching an injury settlement, confirming the move over the weekend.

Reiger, who went unclaimed on waivers last week, signed with the Dolphins shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft as a priority undrafted free agent, receiving a guaranteed contract worth approximately $150,000 to $175,000. He had a notable college career, including 13 sacks and accolades as the Shrine Bowl defensive MVP.

Despite generating positive attention during minicamp and training camp, including a sack in the preseason opener against the Washington Commanders, Reiger was waived with an injury designation on August 18. The Dolphins opted for roster flexibility by signing veteran edge Seth Coleman-Lyles in his place. Reiger's injury history, including a missed season at Louisville, likely influenced his undrafted status. He is now free to seek another opportunity as he works on his recovery.
