Miami Heat Start Season 0-3 After Loss to Hornets
The Miami Heat have struggled at the start of the 2026/27 NBA season, suffering three consecutive losses, including a defeat against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. This marks the franchise's first 0-3 start since the 2007/08 season.
The Heat lost their season opener to the Minnesota Timberwolves by 25 points, followed by a 17-point loss to the Detroit Pistons. In the latest game, the Heat faced a Hornets team that had previously lost by 47 points to the Atlanta Hawks. This is only the fifth time in franchise history that Miami has opened a season with three losses.
Star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was a key offseason addition, had a disappointing performance against the Hornets, scoring 16 points and fouling out. Despite the rough start, starting point guard Davion Mitchell expressed confidence in the team's ability to improve, noting that they are still learning to work together.
