Miami Hurricanes Claim No. 1 Spot in CBS Sports College Football Rankings

The Miami Hurricanes have ascended to the No. 1 position in the CBS Sports 138 college football rankings after a tumultuous Week 7. This ranking comes as they enter the latter half of the season as one of the few remaining unbeaten teams.

In a thrilling matchup, the Hurricanes defeated rival Florida State in double overtime, solidifying their top spot. While the team's average ranking among experts is 1.4, there is some division regarding their placement, as no other team has a ranking better than 2.5.

Ohio State narrowly secured the No. 2 position, edging out BYU, while Georgia, Notre Dame, and Indiana occupy the No. 4 to No. 6 spots. Despite losses in Week 7, these teams maintain a strong standing due to their performances earlier in the season. Additionally, teams like UCLA and Wake Forest have made significant gains in the rankings, while others like Texas and Missouri face challenges after recent defeats.
