Miami Hurricanes Dismiss WR Cam Vaughn from Football Program
On August 17, the Miami Hurricanes announced the dismissal of wide receiver Cam Vaughn from their football program. Head coach Mario Cristobal shared this news during a radio appearance on 104.3 WQAM.
Cristobal did not disclose the reasons behind Vaughn's dismissal but expressed well wishes for him. Vaughn had previously transferred from West Virginia, where he recorded 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns over 12 games last season. He had also spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with Jacksonville State.
The Hurricanes' wide receiver lineup includes players such as Malachi Toney, Duke transfer Cooper Barkate, and South Carolina transfer Vandrevius Jacobs, along with sophomores Daylyn Upshaw and Josh Moore. Freshman recruits Somourian Wingo and Milan Parris are also in contention for playing time. Additionally, Cristobal addressed junior running back Jordan Lyle's recent legal issues, stating that the team is allowing legal processes to unfold. The Hurricanes are set to open their regular season against Stanford on September 4 at 9 p.m. EDT.
