Miami Rises to No. 1 in AP Top 25 for First Time Since 2002
Miami has ascended to the No. 1 position in The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since 2002, following a tumultuous week in college football where five of the top seven teams suffered losses.
The Hurricanes secured their ranking after a double-overtime victory against rival Florida State, maintaining their unbeaten record. Miami received 40 out of 70 first-place votes, edging out No. 2 BYU, which achieved its highest ranking since its 1984 championship season.
Georgia, which held the top spot for one week, fell to Auburn, marking the second consecutive week that a No. 1 team lost to an unranked opponent. The latest rankings also saw Indiana, Mississippi, and Texas Tech among the top teams, while Arizona made its debut at No. 25.
