
Miami Stars Shine in College Football Week 1 Awards
Darian Mensah, the quarterback for Miami, and wide receiver Malachi Toney have been recognized as the standout players in PFF’s Week 1 College Football Team of the Week following their exceptional performances against Stanford.
Mensah completed 27 of 30 passes for 400 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing a remarkable big-time throw rate without any turnovers. Toney also excelled, catching all 12 of his targets for 233 yards and three touchdowns, while forcing four missed tackles.
Other notable players included Arch Manning from Texas, Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State, and Jordan Ross from LSU, who were acknowledged for their contributions to their respective conference teams. Additionally, Jackson Forrest from Old Dominion was named Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Norfolk State, achieving three sacks and a fumble recovery.
The Kansas State Wildcats' offensive line was highlighted for allowing only one pressure during their game against Nicholls State, contributing to a strong rushing performance that totaled 312 yards.
