Michael Fulmer Becomes a Free Agent After Angels Stint

Michael Fulmer has cleared waivers and opted for free agency after a brief tenure with the Los Angeles Angels. The team designated him for assignment on Sunday when Yusei Kikuchi returned from the injured list.

Fulmer joined the Angels on a minor league contract on August 11 and was called up just four days later. However, he was removed from the roster a week after his promotion. During his time with the Angels, he pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings and recorded four strikeouts across three games.

Before joining the Angels, Fulmer had a successful season in Triple-A, primarily with the San Francisco Giants' top affiliate, posting a 2.93 ERA over 43 innings. His performance included a strikeout rate of nearly 29%, although he had an 11.5% walk rate. This track record may help him secure another minor league opportunity soon, as he needs to sign with a team by next Monday to be eligible for postseason play.
