Michael Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals Jersey Sells for Record $14 Million
A jersey worn by Michael Jordan in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has been sold for a record price of $14 million, making it the highest amount ever paid for basketball memorabilia.
The sale was announced by Hunt Auctions, revealing that the game-worn and autographed Chicago Bulls jersey was purchased by Miami real estate investor Ron Firman in a private transaction. This jersey ranks as the second-largest sale in history for game-worn sports jerseys.
During the 1998 Finals, which were highlighted in the Last Dance documentary, Jordan led the Bulls to a victory over the Utah Jazz, scoring 37 points in the pivotal Game 2. The previous record for a basketball memorabilia item was $12.26 million for another jersey worn by Jordan, sold in September.
