Michael Jordan's Signed 1986 Fleer Card Box Fetches $1.48 Million
A sealed box of 1986-87 Fleer Basketball cards, autographed by Michael Jordan, was sold for $1.48 million during an eBay auction held on Sunday night. This box is the only unopened version of the set that Jordan has signed, which includes his rookie card and cards from other NBA legends.
The auction was announced by Upper Deck in July, coinciding with the extension of its exclusive partnership with Jordan. In addition to the box, Jordan also signed 23 individual packs of the same card set, which will be available through a redemption program as part of the 2026 Goodwin Champions release. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Despite the box's unique status, its sale price was lower than the record $2.7 million fetched by a single signed Jordan rookie card last fall. This highlights the complexities of the collectibles market, where individual cards can sometimes be more sought after than unique items. The popularity of Jordan memorabilia continues to rise, with significant sales recorded in recent months.
