Michael La Sasso Advances in DP World Tour Qualifying Amid LIV Golf Challenges
Michael La Sasso, a 22-year-old golfer, achieved a significant milestone by advancing through the first stage of the 2026 DP World Tour Qualifying School at Golf-und-Country Club Seddiner See in Germany. This follows his victory at LIV Indianapolis, where he secured his first title by defeating notable players such as Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.
La Sasso started the final round needing a strong performance to qualify, having been positioned around T-30 after three rounds. He managed to shoot a 5-under 67, including birdies on four of his last six holes, which propelled him to T-18, allowing him to qualify for the next stage. He was one of five LIV players to compete in this first stage.
The second stage of the qualifying process will take place in Spain from October 29 to November 1, 2026. La Sasso's recent success comes amid financial difficulties for LIV Golf, which has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The league is facing uncertainty as it restructures, while several players are reportedly considering leaving due to unpaid dues and other issues.
