Michael Penix Acknowledges Recovery Progress but Not Fully Ready
Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Tua Tagovailoa as the starting quarterback for the team's first game of the season, a decision made without any objections from Michael Penix.
Penix, who was cleared for 11-on-11 practice at the end of August, indicated that he does not feel completely recovered from his previous torn ACL injury. He will not participate in Week 1, expressing a desire to be fully fit before returning to play, stating that he wants to be stronger and ensure he trusts his knee.
Having previously recovered from two torn ACLs, Penix emphasized the importance of not rushing back into action, as he has experienced setbacks in the past. This situation allows Tagovailoa to solidify his position as the starting quarterback.
