Michael Penix Jr. Joins Falcons Quarterback Competition
Michael Penix Jr., the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, has been cleared for all football activities and is entering the team's quarterback competition.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Penix and Tua Tagovailoa will share first-team offensive reps during practice. Penix is returning from a torn ACL sustained last season and has been involved in individual drills and 7-on-7 sessions throughout training camp.
Stefanski mentioned that while undrafted rookie Jack Strand has shown promise, he is currently not in contention for the starting position. The coach emphasized the importance of player development across all positions. The Falcons plan to have their starters play in the upcoming preseason finale against the Dolphins, providing Penix an opportunity to showcase his skills.
