Michael Penix Jr. Set to Start for Falcons Against Bears
Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is anticipated to start for the Atlanta Falcons in their Week 6 matchup against the Chicago Bears after sustaining a rib injury during last week's game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Penix is scheduled to practice on a limited basis, with Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski indicating that he will start if everything proceeds as planned. Prior to his injury, Penix had led the Falcons to two consecutive victories, but he was sidelined during overtime in the recent loss to the Ravens.
Having missed the first two games of the season due to recovery from a torn ACL, Penix expressed his eagerness to return to the field, emphasizing his determination to play. Meanwhile, cornerback C.J. Henderson did not practice due to a groin issue, although his condition is improving. The status of defensive end Za’Darius Smith, who missed the last game due to a concussion and neck injury, remains uncertain as well.
