Michael Penix Jr. to Sit Out Final Preseason Game for Falcons

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will not take the field for the Atlanta Falcons' last preseason game on Friday, despite being cleared for 11-on-11 drills last week. Head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated that while Penix is not playing, he could still be considered for the starting role in the regular-season opener on September 13.

Stefanski noted that it was important for Penix to acclimate to the team before participating in a live game. Tua Tagovailoa, who is competing with Penix for the starting quarterback position, will start against the Miami Dolphins in the final preseason matchup.

Penix expressed that he did not feel the need to rush into playing, stating he needed more practice to gain comfort in the 11-on-11 format. He also mentioned feeling confident about his readiness for Week 1 if he secures the starting job. Meanwhile, running back Bijan Robinson observed Penix's growing confidence during practice.
