Michael Penix's Performance Boosts Falcons' Confidence
Michael Penix has now completed the equivalent of a full season as the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, following a 29-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, marking his 17th NFL start.
In that game, Penix achieved notable success, completing 25 of 34 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns, contributing to the Falcons' record of 7-10 during his starts. Over the course of the season, he has thrown for 3,876 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, with a completion rate of 61.5 percent. His performance has helped the team average 31 points per game in his five starts this season, the highest in the league during that period.
Safety Jessie Bates expressed strong confidence in Penix, stating that his presence significantly changes the team's dynamics and labeling him a franchise quarterback. The Falcons have a 3-2 record since Penix returned from a torn ACL, and a win against the Buccaneers this weekend could place them at 4-4, potentially leading the NFC South if the Panthers lose to the Packers.
