Michael 'Venom' Page Advocates for MMA Fighters' Union
Michael 'Venom' Page has called for MMA fighters to form a union to secure improved pay in the sport. The 39-year-old fighter recently joined KSI's Misfits Boxing promotion after leaving the UFC, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the financial compensation for fighters compared to other sports.
Page, who achieved five wins in six UFC bouts, stated that he will earn significantly more with Misfits. He aims to empower fellow fighters and advocates for a structure similar to the Muhammad Ali Act, which protects boxers' rights. He believes that if all fighters collectively refused to participate, it would challenge the UFC's dominance.
Concerns about fighter pay have been raised recently, particularly after boxer Conor Benn signed a lucrative deal with Zuffa Boxing, owned by UFC president Dana White. Page noted that many fighters hesitate to voice their concerns due to fear of repercussions. He hopes to create a better financial environment for future generations of fighters, emphasizing the importance of competition and negotiation in the industry.
