Mike Hussey Open to England Batting Coach Role for Ashes
Former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey has indicated his openness to the possibility of joining England's coaching staff as a batting consultant for the upcoming Ashes series. This consideration comes after England's head coach Stephen Fleming reached out to him regarding the role.
Fleming, who took over as England's Test coach in July, has a long-standing professional relationship with Hussey, having worked together for 15 years at the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Hussey, who previously served as England's batting consultant during their 2022 T20 World Cup victory, acknowledged the unusual nature of coaching against Australia in the Ashes but expressed a willingness to embrace the opportunity.
While Hussey has not made a definitive decision, he emphasized the importance of family time and the need to consider various factors before committing. He also expressed confidence in Fleming's coaching abilities, anticipating a more controlled style of play from the England team compared to previous strategies. The Ashes series is scheduled for June, July, and August next year.
