Mike Washington Jr., initially viewed as a fourth-round project, is compelling the Las Vegas Raiders to reevaluate their backfield strategy. His performance has caught the attention of the team's management, with general manager John Spytek noting that Washington is exceeding expectations.

Spytek attributed Washington's success to the influence of head coach Kubiak, who advocated for him during the draft. Washington has already taken first-team snaps in practice, particularly in light of Ashton Jeanty's ankle injury. In two preseason games, he averaged 7.9 yards per carry and was recognized by Pro Football Focus as the top running back in the preseason.

Washington's emergence is significant for the Raiders' offense, which aims to support quarterback Kirk Cousins and utilize playmakers like Brock Bowers and Jack Bech.
