Mikel Arteta Defends Arsenal's Playing Style Amid Criticism
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has addressed recent criticism regarding the team's style of play, stating that it originates from a very small minority of observers. Despite winning 10 out of 11 matches this season, the team has faced challenges in scoring, particularly against defensively organized opponents.
In a recent match against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal secured a narrow victory with an 80th-minute goal from substitute Noni Madueke, marking their 11th goal in seven Premier League games. Last season, Arsenal excelled by conceding the fewest goals and scoring the most from set-pieces, yet they have yet to achieve a set-piece goal this season.
Arteta acknowledged the need for improvement, especially when facing teams that employ deep defensive strategies. He emphasized that the current style of play differs from last year, and while he recognizes the criticism, he believes most fans appreciate the team's performance. Goalkeeper David Raya added that the players remain unfazed by the critiques, highlighting their strong record this season.
