Mikel Arteta Maintains Clear Conscience Amid Manchester City Financial Breaches
Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, addressed the recent findings regarding Manchester City, where the club was accused of inflating revenues through sham contracts during his tenure as Pep Guardiola's assistant. City has appealed the charges and denies any wrongdoing.
An independent commission reported that from the 2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons, Manchester City artificially increased their revenue by £830 million. Arteta, who worked at City during the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons, confirmed he has a clear conscience regarding his time there.
Despite facing numerous questions about the verdict, Arteta refrained from further comments until the appeal's outcome is determined. He expressed pride in winning the Premier League title with Arsenal before the verdict and emphasized the ongoing strength of the Premier League, although he acknowledged concerns about its reputation following the City findings.
