Minnesota Timberwolves Sold for $4.5 Billion
The Minnesota Timberwolves have undergone a change in ownership, with the franchise and the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx valued at a combined $4.5 billion. This transaction marks the Timberwolves as the fourth-most expensive NBA franchise to be sold.
Marc Stad, previously a minority investor, has become the controlling owner by acquiring the majority stake from co-chairman Marc Lore. He will work alongside Alex Rodriguez, who confirmed he would also increase his investment and serve as co-chairman.
This sale follows the Timberwolves' previous valuation of $1.5 billion in 2021 when Lore and Rodriguez initially invested. The Timberwolves reached the Western Conference last season but were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs.
