Minnesota Vikings Eye Jonathan Taylor Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline
The Minnesota Vikings, currently undefeated with a 5-0 record, are set to host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, amid increasing speculation regarding a potential trade for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor as the NFL trade deadline approaches.
Indianapolis, with a 2-4 record, recently fired general manager Chris Ballard after a loss to the Tennessee Titans. Taylor has been a standout player for the Colts, accumulating 492 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season, ranking sixth in the NFL for rushing yards. He has a total of 655 yards from scrimmage, placing him seventh in the league.
Taylor, who signed a two-year, $44 million extension in August, is under contract through the 2028 season. The Colts, lacking their first-round pick in the 2027 draft, may consider trading Taylor to rebuild their draft capital. Former Vikings linebacker Ben Leber noted that acquiring Taylor could significantly enhance the Vikings' offensive capabilities. However, any trade would involve substantial salary considerations and potential player exchanges.
