Mirabai Chanu Withdraws from World Championships Due to Injury; Gyaneshwari Yadav Places Eighth
Mirabai Chanu, a prominent Indian weightlifter, has withdrawn from the IWF World Championships due to a back issue. This decision came just before her anticipated debut in the women's 53kg category.
Meanwhile, Gyaneshwari Yadav, representing India, secured eighth place in the same category. The 23-year-old from Chhattisgarh achieved a combined lift of 198kg, with 88kg in the snatch and 110kg in the clean and jerk, finishing first in Group C. Despite her efforts, she missed two attempts that could have improved her personal best of 199kg.
In the competition, China's Zhang Haiqin won the gold medal with a total lift of 221kg, followed by Eleanor Ulrey from the United States with 220kg, and North Korea's So Hyon Kim who took bronze with 214kg.
