Mirko Bortolotti Avoids Disqualification After Strong Finish at Hockenheim
Mirko Bortolotti nearly faced disqualification for the third time this season following his second-place finish in the DTM race at Hockenheim. The Grasser Lamborghini driver ran out of fuel just before the race concluded, leaving his car parked at the end of the start-finish straight.
After the race, regulations required that a minimum amount of fuel be present for sampling. Fortunately, Bortolotti's car contained 1.4 kilograms of fuel, surpassing the minimum requirement of 0.7 kilograms. Team boss Gottfried Grasser communicated with race control about the fuel situation and received guidance on safely parking the car.
In contrast, Bastian Buus from Land Porsche was disqualified after finishing 11th due to his car being underweight, with only 0.049 kilograms of fuel remaining. Bortolotti's performance left him 13th in the overall DTM standings, just behind Abt driver Luca Engstler, who was the top Lamborghini driver.
