Mitch Harris Poised to be First AFL Draft Pick from Yorke Peninsula in Six Years

Mitch Harris from Woodville-West Torrens is likely to be the first player drafted from the Yorke Peninsula in six years, following the selection of Lachie Jones by Port Adelaide in 2017.

Harris grew up on a 1900-acre farm near Kadina and has been boarding at Prince Alfred College since Year 10 to pursue his football career. His family farm is significantly larger than the Melbourne Cricket Ground, with 190 MCGs fitting within its boundaries.

After overcoming a concussion early in the season, Harris has made a strong comeback, demonstrating his skills with impressive performances, including 12 intercept marks in a return game. His recent achievements have led to recognition as one of the top key defenders in his draft class, with many believing he could be a foundational player for an AFL club.
