Mitchell Starc Breaks Kapil Dev's Wicket Record Amidst Struggles Against Bangladesh
Mitchell Starc achieved a milestone by surpassing Kapil Dev on the all-time Test wicket-takers list during the first Test against Bangladesh in Darwin. This event occurred on Friday, following Starc's match of 434 wickets, which he matched the previous day by dismissing Shadman Islam.
Starc moved ahead by taking the wicket of Litton Das, bringing his total to 435 and placing him 11th among the highest wicket-takers in Test history. He is now just five wickets away from entering the top 10, currently held by Dale Steyn with 439 wickets. Starc also became the most successful left-arm bowler in Test cricket history on the first day of the match.
Despite Starc's personal achievements, Australia struggled significantly, being bowled out for 198 on Day 1. Bangladesh capitalized on favorable batting conditions, with Tanzid Hasan Tamim scoring a historic maiden Test century, leading Bangladesh to a strong position with a 150-run lead by the end of Day 2.
