Miyu Yamashita Leads CPKC Women's Open by Five Shots
Miyu Yamashita from Japan has extended her lead to five shots at the CPKC Women's Open, held in Edmonton on Friday. After an impressive opening round of 62, she shot a 6-under 64, bringing her total to 14-under 126 at Royal Mayfair Golf Club.
Yamashita's closest competitors include Soo Bin Joo from South Korea, who recorded a bogey-free 63, and fellow players Yuri Yoshida and Kiara Romero, both at 9 under. Yamashita, 25, is aiming for her fourth LPGA Tour title in just over a year, having already secured three victories since her rookie season.
Joo expressed anticipation for the weekend, noting that conditions may become more challenging as winds pick up. Meanwhile, Romero, making her professional debut, is focused on enjoying the experience and adapting from college golf. Ruoning Yin and Nasa Hataoka are tied for fifth at 8 under, while Canadian Anna Huang is the top local player at 7 under.
