Moesha Johnson Claims Gold in 10km Open Water Swim at Pan Pacs
Moesha Johnson of Australia triumphed in the women's 10km open water swim at the Pan Pacific Championships held in California, marking the first gold medal for Australia at the event.
Johnson finished the race in one hour, 55 minutes, and 33 seconds, leading by over 26 seconds ahead of Japan's Airi Ebina, who took silver, while Ichika Kajimoto from Japan secured the bronze. The race featured 23 competitors, including fellow Australian Jacqueline Davison-McGovern, who placed fifth.
This victory adds to Johnson's impressive record this season, having won all four 10km races in the World Cup. The 28-year-old, who is a silver medallist from the 2024 Olympics and a three-time world champion, expressed her desire to perform strongly on American soil as she prepares for the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
