Mohamed Coulibaly Sought $75,000 Loan on Day of His Death
The case of Mohamed Coulibaly has raised significant concerns within the NFL, as it involves numerous individuals in the league who either invested with him or were solicited for investments. On the day he was discovered dead in his swimming pool, Coulibaly was reportedly in urgent need of a $75,000 loan.
According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Coulibaly sought this loan from a New York man to whom he already owed $1 million. He offered collateral that included a Lamborghini, two gold Rolex watches, and a signed Lionel Messi cleat, claiming that the additional funds would help him repay his debt. Later that day, a driver delivered two counterfeit watches, an unauthenticated cleat, and documentation for the car.
Coulibaly's death is currently under investigation, with some individuals in the NFL speculating that foul play may be involved. His alleged fraudulent activities included operating fake Shopify stores, which some have likened to a Ponzi scheme. Former Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim, who was introduced to Coulibaly through mutual contacts, described himself as one of Coulibaly's victims, expressing regret over his involvement.
