Mohammad Amir Confirms End of International Cricket Career

Mohammad Amir has confirmed that he will not return to Pakistan's national cricket team, marking the end of his international career. The left-arm pacer, who retired from international cricket in December 2024, has acquired British citizenship through his wife, Narjis Khan.

Amir explained that his new citizenship status prevents him from being classified as a local Pakistani player in English domestic competitions, such as the County Championship and The Hundred. He noted that local players must sign a declaration stating they will not represent another country.

Throughout his career, Amir played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 62 T20Is, achieving notable success including a leading role in Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy victory. His transition to British citizenship allows him to continue playing in county and franchise cricket while his contributions to Pakistan cricket remain a significant part of his legacy.
