Mohsin Naqvi Meets BCCI Officials After Asia Cup Final Amid Trophy Controversy
After the Asia Cup final, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, met with BCCI officials Rajeev Shukla and Devajit Saikia. This meeting occurred as the Indian women's cricket team did not participate in the trophy presentation following their victory over Sri Lanka in Dubai.
The Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, secured their eighth Women's Asia Cup title but chose not to return for the ceremony where Naqvi was present. BCCI secretary Saikia explained that the decision was influenced by the changed circumstances following a 2025 terror attack, which has led to increased pressure against maintaining relations with neighboring countries.
Despite the absence of the team at the ceremony, Saikia was seen interacting with Naqvi during the match, which he described as a normal protocol. The Indian women's team has expressed solidarity with the men's team, which also declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi last year.
