Montreal Canadiens Sign Alex Newhook to Four-Year Extension

The Montreal Canadiens have finalized a long-term agreement with forward Alex Newhook, securing him for four more years at a value of $22.2 million, as announced by the team on Tuesday.

This contract will take effect next season, following the completion of Newhook's current four-year deal worth $11.6 million. Last season, he recorded 13 goals and 25 points in 42 games, despite missing time due to a fractured ankle that required surgery. He made a notable return in late February and contributed significantly during the playoffs, scoring 10 points in 19 games, including two game-winning goals in Game 7s.

At 25 years old, Newhook is part of a promising group of young forwards for the Canadiens, which also includes captain Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and Ivan Demidov, all of whom are under contract through at least 2030.
