Moses Itauma to Fight Filip Hrgovic for Vacant IBF Title

Moses Itauma, a British heavyweight boxer, is set to face Filip Hrgovic on August 29 for the vacant IBF title at London's O2 Arena. The 21-year-old Itauma, who has achieved 12 knockouts in 14 professional fights, is considered a rising star in the heavyweight boxing scene.

The IBF title became available after Oleksandr Usyk vacated it in June. Promoter Frank Warren expressed confidence in Itauma's abilities, highlighting the expectations surrounding him since he turned professional at 16. Initially, Itauma was to negotiate with Cuban Frank Sanchez for the title, but Sanchez has agreed to step aside, allowing him to fight the winner of the Itauma-Hrgovic match.

Itauma's recent performances include a fifth-round stoppage of Jermaine Franklin and a first-round knockout of Dillian Whyte. Hrgovic, a 34-year-old Olympic bronze medalist, has won 20 professional bouts and recently defeated Dave Allen. A victory for Itauma could lead to a potential unification fight against WBO champion Daniel Dubois or Fabio Wardley in the future.
