Mother of British Woman Killed in Texas Plans Trip to Reopen Investigation
Jane Coates, the mother of Lucy Harrison, is preparing to travel to the United States to advocate for the reopening of the investigation into her daughter's death. Lucy, a 23-year-old fashion buyer from Warrington, was shot by her father, Kris Harrison, at his home in Prosper, Texas, on January 10, 2025.
The local police initially investigated the incident as a potential manslaughter case, but a grand jury in Collin County ultimately decided not to indict Kris Harrison, who claimed the firearm discharged accidentally. A coroner in England later ruled that Lucy had been unlawfully killed, citing gross negligence on her father's part.
Coates aims to meet with the district attorney to discuss the case further, expressing her frustration over the lack of progress since the coroner's ruling. She has enlisted the help of Radd Seiger, known for his work with the family of Harry Dunn, to assist in her efforts to persuade Texas authorities to reconsider the investigation.
