MotoGP Aims to Retain Qatar Grand Prix on 2026 Calendar
MotoGP is actively working to include the Qatar Grand Prix in its 2026 calendar, according to Carlos Ezpeleta, the newly-appointed deputy CEO. This effort continues despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Ezpeleta stated that the championship is in discussions with the Qatari government regarding the race, which is currently scheduled for November 8. He emphasized the importance of making a timely decision to allow teams and riders adequate preparation for the championship's concluding events.
While MotoGP is optimistic about holding the Qatar GP, some reports suggest the race may be canceled, potentially reducing the calendar to 21 events. Ezpeleta also mentioned that the 2027 calendar is nearly finalized but will be influenced by the evolving situation in the region, with announcements expected in the coming weeks.
