MotoGP Considers Moving Qatar Grand Prix Amid Regional Unrest

MotoGP is contemplating the relocation of the Qatar Grand Prix due to the ongoing instability in the Middle East, as stated by sporting director Carlos Ezpeleta. The event is currently scheduled for November 29, but the situation has prompted the championship to consider alternatives.

The conflict in the Persian Gulf has already affected various sporting events, leading Formula 1 to move its Bahrain race to Malaysia. MotoGP had previously rescheduled the Qatar race from April to November, but now faces logistical challenges in finding a suitable venue that meets safety standards.

While MotoGP SEG is still aiming to hold the race at Lusail, they are also evaluating other options. Ezpeleta noted that the decision is complicated by the need for a quick resolution, as the championship must prepare for the subsequent Portuguese Grand Prix shortly after. A final decision is expected by the end of the month, with potential implications for future races as well.
