MotoGP Indonesian Grand Prix: Highlights and Challenges
The Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika highlighted the ongoing 2026 MotoGP season, featuring distinct outcomes for title contenders Aprilia and Ducati. Both manufacturers secured a victory during the weekend, maintaining a competitive championship race as they head to Australia.
Aprilia achieved a historic result by locking out the top four positions in the main race, with Marco Bezzecchi winning and Raul Fernandez overcoming a broken finger. However, the weekend was marred by a disastrous sprint race where Fernandez and Bezzecchi collided, leading to tensions between the teammates. Despite this, Aprilia now leads the constructors' standings by 12 points over Ducati.
On the other hand, Marc Marquez of Ducati faced challenges with tyre pressure rules affecting performance. While he managed to win the sprint race, he struggled in the main event, finishing outside the top five. Honda's performance was notably poor, with all riders failing to secure top ten finishes. Additionally, Fermin Aldeguer suffered multiple crashes, resulting in a hand fracture, while Toprak Razgatlioglu dislocated his shoulder but managed to compete before retiring from the race.
