Munster Triumphs Over Racing 92 in Champions Cup Opener
Munster began their Champions Cup campaign with a 33-25 victory against Racing 92 at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, marking the occasion with a tribute to the late Anthony Foley.
The match took place on the anniversary of Foley's passing, featuring a moving performance by the Shannon RFC choir before kickoff. Munster scored five tries, with notable contributions from Brian Gleeson, Shay McCarthy, Tadhg Beirne, Fineen Wycherley, and Craig Casey, while Racing's tries came from Wilfried Hulleu, Maxime Machenaud, and Joey Manu.
Despite leading by 15 points early in the second half, Munster faced a challenge as Racing narrowed the gap. However, a late yellow card for Racing's Arthur Roche hindered their comeback, allowing Casey to secure the win with a try in the final minutes. Munster will aim for improved consistency in their next match against Leinster.
