MVP Discusses Drug Culture in Pro Wrestling
In a recent episode of his podcast, AEW wrestler MVP discussed the longstanding association between drugs and professional wrestling, particularly during his time in WWE. He noted that many wrestlers have struggled with substance abuse, often stemming from injuries and the pressures of the industry.
MVP recalled that during his debut on the main roster, the drug culture was prevalent, with some wrestlers abusing muscle relaxers and pain medications. He highlighted the impact of the Wellness Policy, which was implemented following the Benoit tragedy, stating that it significantly reduced the culture of sharing pills among wrestlers.
Having recently transitioned from prison to wrestling, MVP felt comfortable rejecting drugs, which he attributed to his ability to navigate the challenging environment of the locker room.
