NASCAR Championship Chase Final Spot Contingent on Daytona Race
The NASCAR Championship Chase is nearing its conclusion, with the final regular season race set to take place at Daytona. The outcome could hinge on a crash, impacting the last qualifying spot.
Currently, Austin Cindric leads with a +44 point margin, followed by Shane Van Gisbergen at +31. Ryan Preece is at -31, while Brad Keselowski sits at -66 points. For Keselowski to secure the last spot, he would require a win at Daytona and for those ahead of him to crash out early.
Preece recently finished ninth in a race, earning 10 stage points, while Van Gisbergen finished 20th with only two stage points. Preece's crew chief noted their strategy positioned them well for a top-five finish. Despite a strong performance, Preece acknowledged the need for a win to close the gap on Van Gisbergen. The upcoming race will also feature a new superspeedway package, with no prior practice scheduled.
