NASCAR Implements New Caution Procedures for Upcoming Races

NASCAR has introduced new caution procedures for its three national touring series, set to take effect during the race weekend of August 7-9 at Iowa Speedway.

The updated rules state that if a natural caution occurs within 10 laps of a scheduled stage yellow, the stage will be considered official at that point, with the subsequent caution process acting as the stage break. This adjustment aims to address fan frustrations regarding lengthy caution periods, particularly those that delay the resumption of racing.

This decision follows feedback after the Brickyard 400, which experienced extended caution flags and a one-lap dash to conclude Stage 1. NASCAR anticipates that these changes will reduce race delays caused by late-stage cautions and facilitate a quicker return to green-flag racing.
