NASCAR Permits Brake Changes After Phoenix Qualifying
NASCAR has decided to allow teams to change front brake pads and rotors following practice and qualifying at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday. This policy change was communicated to teams on Wednesday and is a direct response to brake problems experienced at previous events.
Teams will specifically be permitted to replace only the front brake components after qualifying, while inspections of rear rotors will continue as per standard procedures. Any issues identified with rear rotors will be addressed individually on race day.
The decision comes after multiple brake issues were reported at recent races, prompting feedback from teams. NASCAR's managing director noted that the high demands on brakes at Phoenix justified this adjustment, allowing teams more flexibility to ensure their brake systems function properly.
