NASCAR to Return to Naval Base Coronado in 2027
NASCAR announced its return to Naval Base Coronado in 2027, where both the Cup and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series will compete for the second consecutive year.
The decision to return follows discussions between NASCAR's chief operating officer Ben Kennedy and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during this year's inaugural race weekend. NASCAR plans to hold additional races at military installations starting in 2028, although specific locations and dates have yet to be determined.
The 2027 race at Coronado is scheduled for August 1 and will serve as the championship round of NASCAR's In-Season Challenge, featuring 32 drivers competing for a $1 million prize. Additionally, the Craftsman Truck Series will not return to Coronado, with a September race planned at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario instead.
