Nate Lashley Wins 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic by Six Shots
Nate Lashley achieved his first PGA Tour victory at the 2019 Rocket Mortgage Classic, winning by a remarkable six shots. Initially unlikely to compete, Lashley entered the tournament as a third alternate after failing to qualify through Monday qualifying.
After starting with a round of 63, Lashley maintained his lead with a second round of 67, finishing the halfway stage one shot ahead of Cameron Champ. His strong performance continued with another 63 on Saturday, extending his lead over J.T. Poston.
In the final round, a score of 70 was sufficient for Lashley to secure the win, moving him from 132nd to 40th in the FedEx Cup standings. Lashley, who turned professional after a personal tragedy in 2004, reflected on his parents' memory during his victory, acknowledging their influence on his career.
