Nationals Call Up Prospect Yohandy Morales

The Washington Nationals are set to promote corner infield prospect Yohandy Morales as active rosters expand on Tuesday. This decision follows the team's recent release of Trevor Williams, which opened a spot on the 40-man roster.

Morales, who was a second-round pick in 2023, has had a strong season at Triple-A Rochester, hitting 25 home runs with a batting average of .286. He has accumulated 455 plate appearances this season, showcasing his power with a hard contact rate of 51% and an average exit velocity of 91.5 mph.

Despite facing questions regarding his hitting ability and positional fit, Morales is expected to play a bench role for the Nationals, likely filling in against left-handed pitchers. He is currently outside the organization's top 30 prospects but was ranked 27th by Baseball America in July.
