NBA 2026/27 Season Begins with Afternoon Triple-Header

The NBA's 2026/27 regular season is set to commence on Tuesday following a 128-day offseason. The opening day will feature an afternoon game between the Pistons and Celtics at 2:00 pm Central time in Detroit, marking the start of a triple-header.

Later in the day, the Sixers will face the defending champion Knicks at 6:00 pm CT, while the Spurs will host the Thunder at 8:30 pm CT. All 30 teams have submitted their rosters, with 519 players currently under contract for 540 available spots.

Among the players, 433 are on standard contracts, leaving 17 roster openings. Notably, 25 players have non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed salaries. The Kings' Ben Simmons will receive his full minimum salary due to an Achilles injury. Several players on non-guaranteed deals will see their salaries become guaranteed soon, depending on their roster status.
