NBA Expansion Focuses on Las Vegas Amid Lakers Sale

ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported that the group led by Kushner and Iger is among those interested in acquiring an expansion team in Las Vegas. A source from the league office indicated that the NBA is leaning towards a higher expansion fee for Las Vegas compared to Seattle, which could set a precedent for future expansions.

Discussions regarding this matter are expected to continue at the upcoming Board of Governors meeting in September, although a vote on expansion is not anticipated to pass at this time. Additionally, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and several team owners are reportedly focusing on the establishment of NBA Europe, which is set to launch in October 2027, rather than immediate domestic expansion.
