NBA GM Survey: Spurs and Wembanyama Lead Predictions for 2027 Season
The NBA's annual general manager survey, released on Thursday, indicates that the San Antonio Spurs are favored to win the 2027 championship, with 50% of GMs supporting them. Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs' star player, is also predicted to win the MVP award, receiving 77% of the votes.
The Spurs surpassed the Oklahoma City Thunder, who received 43% of the votes, while the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers also garnered some support. Last season, the Thunder were heavily favored, receiving 80% of the votes.
Wembanyama's impressive performance last season, where he averaged 25 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks, contributed to his MVP candidacy. Additionally, the survey highlighted Spurs guard Dylan Harper as a breakout candidate for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the 76ers, despite being recognized for their offseason moves, were noted as the team with the most unpredictable success this season.
